Mini Beasts

About the Mini Beasts topic Box

The Minibeasts theme will support children to learn about their emerging responsibilities of caring for the environment, the planet and all those who live on it.

Relationships and Interactions
Many of the activities in relation to this theme allow for a slow relational pedagogy by providing opportunities for children and educators to slow down (looking for cobwebs, digging for works, watching caterpillars grow). Educators notice children’s learning when they slow things down.

Holistic Learning and Play
Children learn many things at the same time through a variety of fun, interesting and meaningful play experiences.

Play and Hands-on Experiences
Children learn about the world around and beyond them through free play, guided play and educator-led play experiences. Children will immerse themselves in deep learning and joyful explorations. Children will learn empathy and compassion.

Learning Environments
Children will enjoy active, adventurous play. This theme provides an emphasis on nature and natural spaces.
