NCCA have commissioned three very important papers to support engagement and understanding of concepts in the updated Aistear.

Our first research paper has been written by Prof Iram Siraj, who is a Distinguished, Visiting Research Professor at Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education at Maynooth University. Her paper focuses on the emergent and inquiry-based curriculum in early childhood, aligning it to the Principles and Themes of the updated Aistear Framework.

Dr Caroline Guard is the author of the second paper in this series, ‘Rights and agency for babies, toddlers and young children in early childhood’. Dr Guard’s paper provides an extensive literature review of this topic and considers how the updated Aistear Framework supports rights and agency in practice.

Our third paper has been written by Dr June O’Sullivan entitled ‘Education for Sustainability in early childhood’. Her paper examines what the different pillars of sustainability look like in the early childhood setting and the role of the educator in supporting learning around these concepts.
