The Department of Children, Disability and Equality (DCDE)’s inaugural Data Strategy was launched on 15 July 2026. The launch took place as part of the fourth Data Journeys event, which is co-hosted by DCDE and Coimisiún na Meán.
The Strategy provides a framework for building data literacy and capability, contributing to the achievement of the Department’s objectives. It sets out the Department’s Data Vision and Data Mission.
The Data vision is: “A culture and ecosystem where data is utilised in an optimal way to deliver on the Department’s objectives.”
The Data Mission is: “To create a culture that innovatively and collaboratively harnesses and integrates data from diverse, trusted sources to meet policy and governance needs, while upholding the highest standards of privacy, ethics and transparency.”
The Strategy is supported by four strategic objectives:
- Building and supporting a data-informed culture.
- Improving the storage, governance and management of data.
- Prioritising data quality and data standards.
- Supporting optimal data usage and increasing analytical capacity.
